Two New WHO Resources on the Social Determinants of Health and Multisectoral Work for Health Equity
Below are 2 ressources of interest published by the World Health Organization (WHO):
1) Global mapping report on multisectoral actions to strengthen the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases and mental health conditions: experiences from around the world
This report describes the experiences of different countries, areas and territories in implementing multisectoral actions for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases and mental health disorders. It highlights the multisectoral actions that have been widely applied and others that have not been much used and should be developed and implemented more extensively.
2) Operational framework for monitoring social determinants of health equity
In February 2024, WHO published a guide to monitoring the social determinants of health equity. This operational framework aims to contribute to countries working to improve health equity, through the development of evidence-based public policies. Among other things, this guide offers a list of indicators; proposes a step-by-step process for technical surveillance; and describes how to use data to develop healthy public policies.
